Excelsior is a quaint lakeside community known for it’s charming downtown and historic ambiance. Nestled on the South side of Lake Minnetonka, the city is a unique blend of old and new attractions.

Downtown Excelsior has established quite the reputation for being a destination town, as it offers an eclectic variety of restaurants, coffee shops, shopping boutiques and its very own brewery, the newest hot spot in town. Whether you want to find your newest antique treasure, meet up with friends for a casual beer after work, or watch the sunset from the park with your favorite ice cream flavor, this small suburban town will capture your heart, as it’s done with many before you.

When it comes to being active in the fresh outdoors, Excelsior is second to none. The Excelsior Commons is a lakeside recreation area known for hosting art fairs, concerts in the band shell, games in the park and fireworks on the 4th of July. Excelsior also offers public docks, beaches, trails, parks and courts, all open for the use of anyone who desires.

Just like its downtown appeal, Excelsior’s real estate is a mix of long-lasting and newer properties. The beauty of these homes is found in the adjacency to the lake and the proximity to town; everything you want is right outside your front door.

Excelsior resides in the Minnetonka school district, which is one of the highest in the state. Minnetonka’s schools are well known for academic excellence, a broad range of extra-curricular offerings and leading immersion programs.

Many traces of Excelsior’s rich history live on today, such as the Minnehaha Steamboat, the streetcar and museum, downtown’s strict architectural guidelines and the strong reference to how Excelsior icon “Mister Jimmy” inspired the Rolling Stones’ anthem song.

Spend some time in Excelsior and it will be no mystery why the area is so highly regarded. Mick Jagger sang “you can’t always get what you want”, but perhaps YOU CAN if you move to this lakeside charmer.
